Preparing for an inspection
The foundation of our facility is based on the desire to provide the best possible care for our horses. There is ample turnout for the mares and foals; roomy stalls at night and fresh air circulating through the barns at all times.
 
From day one, natural outdoor activities, such as grazing and games with their dams and peers in a herd setting, establish the balance of basic equine experiences. Exercise keeps the horses physically fit and healthy.

A dedicated Hanoverian breeding farm

Leatherdale Farms is located just 20 minutes west of Minneapolis, Minnesota in the gently rolling countryside. We are a privately owned farm and generally foal out about 3-4 foals a year. We do not board horses; nor are we a training facility for other riders. Our goal is to breed the best possible "purebred" Hanoverians and we feel we do this very well.

Carefully Chosen Bloodlines
We choose our sire bloodlines very carefully for both our broodmares and our foals. Thus, you will find the best of both the old and the newest of German and American Hanoverian bloodlines in our barn. This is done with both fresh and frozen semen imported from Germany and shipped from all over the United States as well. We foal all the foals out ourselves and thus believe strongly in imprinting. You will be able to see this imprinting in the ease to which our horses respond to handling and training – not to mention their loving and gentle attitudes and manners. These are our "babies" and we sell them only to those we feel will give them the homes they deserve, the care they need, and the ability to meet their given potential, whether it be in the dressage ring or as hunters or jumpers in the show ring.
